TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Jan. 19 (PIA) - - The Regional Inter-Agency Council (RIATF) of Cagayan Valley has approved the recommendation of the local officials to place Tuguegarao City under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for 10 days.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the ECQ status will start tomorrow and will last up to January 29, 2021.

He said the elevation of the quarantine status was prompted by surge of COVID-19 active cases which is now at 222.

He also explained that the daily attack rate has already reached 10.4 percent which is, according to the DOH, already at high risk.

With this, the mayor said public transport will be suspended and back riding will no longer be allowed.

However, he said restaurants are allowed to open in 50 percent capacity of its workforce and will only entertain "take-out", no dine-in is allowed.

"The public market will be open but with strict compliance of the health protocols and the offices will be at 20 percent workforce capacity," Soriano said.

He also said construction works will also be allowed at 20 percent capacity and the businesses selling construction supplies will also be allowed to open.

Though there will be strict checkpoints, individuals who are going out and coming in the city are allowed only for essential travels.

He also assured distribution of food and some cash assistance to the affected families who belong to the marginalized and vulnerable sectors. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
