Tuguegarao City to purchase 75,000 vaccines

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Jan. 13 (PIA) - - The city government here is now preparing to purchase 75, 000 sets of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines to inoculate every Tuguegaraoeno.

Mayor Jefferson P. Soriano said the city has already prepared P38 million fund for the procurement of the vaccine which will augment the supplies that will be shared by the national government.

"Your city is doing something to make everything normal in the months to come so that we can also catch up with what other LGUs are doing. Your city is preparing for the inoculation of everybody," Soriano said.

The mayor said he has already coordinated with the eight big cities, which have already signed contract with AstraZeneca, to share some to Tuguegarao City.

He also said Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has already vowed to share 25,000 sets of vaccines to the city once it is already available.

"The vaccines which will be purchased by the LGUs, the AstraZeneca brand, will arrive maybe by the third quarter of the year," Soriano said.

He also said, however, the vaccines from the national government, which is Sinovac brand, may already be available next month. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
