TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct. 26 (PIA) - - As cases of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continuously escalate in the Cagayan Valley Region, the Department of Health (DOH) region 2 is now establishing quarantine and isolation facilities using container vans.
In the report of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Loreta Malaluan, two units of health facility container van with one swabbing booth are now being established at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center, this city.
She said the project which costs P28 million is now 78 percent completed but the construction time is extended due to the unavailability of some local materials.
"Once the project is fully completed, it will be turned over to the hospital, through its medical center chief, Dr. Glenn Matthew Baggao," Malaluan said.
Malaluan also said the same type of project is also being established in Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya, also a P28 million worth of facility which is now 96 percent completed which will later be turned to the Provincial Local Government Unit, through Governor Carlos Padilla.
"Another health facility container van project with a swabbing booth has been started in Gosi Sur, Tuguegarao City which will later be turned over to the city LGU through Mayor Jefferson Soriano," she added.
The fourth isolation facility using container van is now on-going in Cabbaroguis, Quirino which is now 42 percent completed and to be turned to the PLGU, through Governor Dakila Carlo Cua.
All in all, Malaluan said, all of the projects cost over P115 million with total bed capacity of 128.
The director is hopeful that all of the projects will be completed and utilized in the mid of November as quarantine and isolation facilities are badly needed for positive COVID-19 patients in the said provinces. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
